I've downloaded 64 bit edition of Vista, currently using XP Pro 32 bit and using virtual drive to install Vista. But when I click Setup.exe it gives an error 'Setup.exe is not a valid Win32 application'.
So,
1. I dont have a DVD ROM 2. I'm ready for any condition: An upgrade of XP or Another installation of Vista on another partition
Is there any solution to install Vista?

Any solution to 'Not a valid Win32 application' ?
Well Since you dont have a dvd drive, the only way to install would be to either get the 32bit version of vista or get the 64bit verision of XP, I think I herd that you can get a trial version of XP64 from microsoftwhich would work

The 'Setup.exe' on the Vista x64 DVD is a 64-bit program and will not run on a computer in 32-bit mode. You have to boot from the DVD so the CPU is put into the 64-bit mode and then 'Setup.exe' will run as a 64-bit program.
Question: Why do you think it is referred to as 'x64'?
Answer: Because it's a 64-bit operating system.
P.S.
Your CPU must be 64-bit capable, also. Either an AMD64 (Athlon 64, Opteron, or Sempron 64) or an Intel EM64T CPU. Vista x64 will not run on ANY 32-bit CPU!

I was under the impression that Vista x64 setup would not run under XP x64. I believe it requires a bootable DVD.
Just buy a dvd drive. They're like $10. "TheCap" wrote in message

Are there separate 32/64 bit versions of the install DVD? If the setup application won't run on 32 bit XP does that mean I was sent a 64 bit version? If so I didn't want to install this on my x64 XP machine, but I might have to reconsider. I'm off to try it on x64.

So, are there x64 versions of the install CD and of course they won't run of x32 XP?

I don't know about the shipped DVD, but I would presume so. There were separate ISO downloads. "Tom Barry" <Tom Barry@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message

The person at MSFT who made the decision that the average user has the ability to do this should be forced to answer these posts...
